The material

Giza 70 – why Egyptian cotton makes the difference

Egyptian cotton of the Giza 70 variety grows along the Nile and yields fibres of 30 to 45 millimetres. Ordinary cotton reaches 25 to 30 millimetres. Longer fibres spin into finer, more even yarns – with fewer loose fibre ends.

You feel the result straight away: luxury towels in Giza cotton are softer, stronger and barely shed. They do not pill and keep their volume for years, even with frequent washing.

Super Pile weaves this yarn into dense 700 gsm loop pile. The high density absorbs moisture at once, yet holds surprisingly little residual water – the towel dries reliably between two uses.

Care

How your towels stay fluffy for years

Wash luxury towels in Egyptian cotton at 40 to 60 degrees and separately from anything with zips or hooks. Skip the fabric softener – it leaves a film around the loops and takes away exactly the absorbency you paid for.

A short spell in the tumble dryer lifts the loops again and makes the terry particularly full. Wash new towels once on their own before first use: Giza 70 reaches its full absorbency after the first few washes.

What makes Giza 70 cotton special?

Giza 70 is an extra-long-staple Egyptian cotton from the Nile delta with a fibre length of 30 to 45 millimetres. It spins into finer, more even yarns – the towels become softer, stronger and barely shed.

Why do the towels weigh 700 gsm?

The weight describes the density of the loop pile. 700 gsm counts as the upper luxury segment: plenty of volume, high absorbency and a noticeably heavy, full handle.

Are luxury towels in Egyptian cotton tested for harmful substances?

Yes. The Super Pile collection is fully certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 – from the yarn through the dyeing to the bound edge.

How many colours are there?

60 shades, from white and cream through beige and taupe to deep bordeaux, emerald and navy. Every colour is dyed on its own so that all sizes match exactly.

May I use fabric softener?

Better not. Fabric softener settles around the cotton loops and noticeably reduces absorbency. A dash of vinegar in the softener compartment keeps the towels soft without sealing them.

Where are the towels made?

In Portugal, at Abyss & Habidecor. The mill has produced there since 1978 and dyes each piece on its own, checks it by hand and pre-shrinks it.

How long do the towels last?

With normal care, many years. The two-ply yarns and the bound edge prevent fraying, and the volume survives a hundred washes.
