A mosaic brings many small pieces together into one design. These pieces, called tesserae, form lines, ornaments or pictures. In a marble mosaic, each natural stone has its own veining. Precise cutting and deliberate arrangement create a surface that rewards a closer look.

Green lends freshness to the geometry. Pink creates a soft yet expressive accent.
In both Cosmati versions, pale marble meets coloured glass mosaic. Stone lends depth; the glass pieces respond to the light in the room. The coloured elements are therefore not made entirely of marble.
For a harmonious result, consider the colour together with the walls, fittings and lighting. Warm light changes its appearance, as does daylight. A calm setting lets the fine pattern take centre stage.

Cosmati is defined by carefully considered combinations. The six colour collections do not all use the same materials. We document the exact composition for your selection.
HERITAGE YOU CAN SEE
Maurizio Leo Placuzzi founded SICIS® in 1987. Two years later, the company moved to Ravenna, a city whose mosaic heritage continues to inspire the brand. SICIS® combines craftsmanship, technical development and a distinctive understanding of materials.
Cosmati draws on a much older visual language: geometric marble inlays made by Roman craftsmen in the 12th and 13th centuries. SICIS® brings circles, symmetry and coloured ornaments into contemporary compositions. History becomes a design with its own presence in today's interiors.
The story of SICIS®
WALLS, FLOORS & DISTINCTIVE SPACES
In a bathroom, a marble mosaic can frame a vanity, accent a wall or define the floor. A Cosmati composition can also become a focal point in an entrance hall or spacious living area.
Suitability must be assessed for the exact surface and use. In showers and other wet areas, slip resistance, waterproofing and the appropriate installation system need to be planned from the outset.
YOUR PATH TO A PERSONAL COMPOSITION
You do not need a finished plan. A photograph of your room and an initial colour idea are enough to begin. We will work out dimensions and technical details together.
Share photos, a floor plan and dimensions with us. We discuss colours, light and the effect you want your marble mosaic tiles to create.
We document materials, dimensions and the pattern layout. These details form the basis of your individual quotation.
Production starts after your approval. The product pages currently state around six to eight weeks for manufacturing; we will agree the delivery schedule with you personally.
Numbered mesh sheets help your installer place the pattern correctly. A qualified specialist carries out the installation. We can also advise on suitable grout and care.

A marble mosaic is made from individually cut stone pieces called tesserae. Together they form a surface, ornament or image. SICIS® Cosmati may also combine marble with glass or other natural stones. Unlike a printed tile, the pattern is created by arranging the materials themselves.
A large marble tile mainly shows the natural veining of one stone. Cosmati combines shapes, colours and materials into a designed pattern. Circles, diamonds, stars and borders can resemble a carpet made of stone. The natural veining adds another layer to the geometric design.
No. Cosmati Green combines Carrara and Statuario marble with Smalto Verdi glass mosaic; Cosmati Pink uses Smalto Viola glass mosaic. The green and pink-violet accents also come from glass. Cosmati Blue combines Statuario marble with blue Azul Macauba quartzite. We confirm the exact materials for your selection.
Marble mosaics offer many possibilities for walls and floors. Suitability depends on the specific materials, surface and construction. A shower also requires an assessment of slip resistance, waterproofing and cleaning needs. Numerous grout lines alone do not prove slip resistance. Please discuss the intended use with us and your installer before ordering.
Tiamont describes delivery on numbered mesh sheets that follow the planned layout. This makes the overall motif easier to assemble. The substrate, adhesive, grout and any waterproofing must suit the chosen material combination. We recommend an installer experienced with natural stone and mosaics; mesh mounting does not replace professional installation.
This needs to be checked for the chosen composition and existing floor build-up. A suitable substrate, documented heating procedure and compatible installation system all matter. Tell us during your consultation if underfloor heating is already in place or planned.
Use soft cloths and a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for the actual combination of stone and glass. Vinegar, acidic limescale removers and abrasive products can damage marble. Remove spills promptly. Whether sealing is advisable depends on the surface and use; follow the care guidance for your confirmed design.

The product pages currently state approximately six to eight weeks of manufacturing after approval. We will confirm the schedule, including delivery, for your project.
Yes. Room photos, a floor plan and accurate dimensions are a good starting point. We then define your preferred composition, materials and pattern layout. Ask about material samples as well: natural veining, glass reflections and the effect in your own light can be difficult to judge on a screen.
