The idea
In the Taijitu, the sign of Yin and Yang, two halves embrace each other. Dark Yin stands for calm, depth and composure, bright Yang for light, clarity and new beginnings. Neither half can exist without the other, and each holds a point of the other.
We set that point in gold. The Tiamont Diamond emblem is where black and white meet: the same thread and the same handwriting on both sets. Own both, and you hold the whole sign in your hands.
Giza 70 · Extra Long Staple · 700 g/m²
The fabric
Giza 70 belongs to the extra long staple varieties, the particularly long cotton fibres from the Nile Delta that are picked by hand. Long fibres spin into finer, more even yarns. The yarn has fewer loose ends, the pile feels silky, has a soft sheen and stays stable through many washes.
At 700 grams per square metre the terry is noticeably denser than ordinary towels. It absorbs water at once, lies heavy and calm in the hand and rises again after washing. This is how luxury towels made from Egyptian cotton feel.
The signature
The Tiamont Diamond emblem is embroidered into the pile with gold-coloured yarn, not printed and not sewn on. The signature becomes part of the towel. On black it looks like a point of light in the night, on white like a warm accent in the morning light.

The collaboration
For more than four decades Abyss & Habidecor has been making towels and bath rugs from Egyptian cotton in Mundão near Viseu, in northern Portugal. Dyeing is done by experienced hands, and every piece is pre-washed, pre-shrunk and inspected before it leaves the manufacture. Today the collections are found in more than 60 countries, in hotels as well as private bathrooms.

You rarely recognise a luxury towel by its label, but by how it feels in the hand: by its weight, its density and how soft the pile stays after many washes. Four points help you choose. They also explain why the Yin & Yang sets by Abyss & Habidecor and Tiamont are among the finest towels you can buy for your bathroom.
Very different qualities are sold as Egyptian cotton. What matters is the variety. The Giza varieties from the Nile Delta are among the few cottons with an extra long fibre, known as extra long staple. It gives fine, strong yarns that shed less, feel softer and last longer. The Yin & Yang towels are woven from Giza 70 cotton.
The weight per square metre shows how much cotton is in the terry. Simple towels are often around 400 to 500 g/m². At 700 g/m² the Yin & Yang sets belong to the heavy, particularly dense class: they dry with just a few movements, feel full and rich and keep their shape for a long time.
Yin in black and gold gives depth to bathrooms with dark stone, Nero Marquina marble, anthracite glass mosaic or brass fittings. Yang in white and gold opens up bright rooms with Carrara marble, white mosaic and plenty of daylight. Combine both sets and you bring the balance of Yin and Yang straight into the bathroom, for example black at the shower and white at the washbasin. For further shades we also offer luxury towels in around 60 colours.

They are woven by Abyss & Habidecor in Mundão near Viseu, Portugal. The manufacture has been working with Egyptian cotton for more than four decades. Yin & Yang is a special edition created together with Tiamont and available only at Tiamont.
Giza 70 is a cotton variety from the Nile Delta with an extra long fibre (extra long staple). Long fibres give finer, stronger yarns with fewer loose ends. The result is terry that is softer, has more sheen and lasts longer than towels made from short-staple cotton.
The figure describes the weight of one square metre of terry. The higher the value, the more cotton is in the towel. At 700 g/m² the Yin & Yang towels are particularly dense, absorbent and voluminous.
Every set has four pieces: a large shower towel (140 × 70 cm), a medium shower towel (110 × 60 cm), a guest towel (60 × 40 cm) and a face cloth (50 × 30 cm).
The Tiamont Diamond signature is finely embroidered into the pile with gold-coloured yarn. It is part of the towel and is neither printed nor sewn on.
As with any deeply dyed cotton, we recommend washing Yin separately from light textiles for the first washes. After that it can be cared for with dark laundry as usual.
Wash once before first use, then at 30 to 40 °C with a mild detergent, without fabric softener and without bleach. Tumble dry at medium heat and give a short shake. Do not pull loose loops, trim them to the height of the pile.
